Lag Putting

Limit Your Three-Putts With Better Lag Putting

If you find yourself with a putt of more than 20 feet, you are in the lag putting realm. Lag putting is simply trying to leave yourself with an easily makable second putt. The problem most of us have with a long putt, is distance control. It gets more difficult to judge speed the further from the hole you get. There are ways to boost your confidence, and effectiveness with lag putting.

Getting your putting down is the quickest way to lower your score. There is no better way to do it than Master Your Putt.

When you are putting from 5 or 10 feet, it is commonly known that you should keep your eyes on the ball all the way through the putt. You should simply listen for the ball to drop into the cup. This is not true with lag putting. When you are lag putting, you might want to try keeping your eyes on the hole. Thats right. If you watch the hole as you make your putt, you will be tapping into your natural hand-eye coordination. Try not to think about how hard to hit the ball. You should still utilize all aspects of The Mental Game Of Golf, and your pre-putt routine. All of us have a natural knack for distance control. If you are going to toss a ball to your buddy 20 feet away, do you throw it way over his head, or halfway there? Neither usually. I'm just trying to show that in lag putting, it can pay not to over analyze the power you put into the stroke.
