Putting Techniques

When it comes to putting, its hard to say what the correct technique is. There are those who believe the best technique is a stroke like a pendulum that goes straight back, and straight through. There are those who believe that a more arced stroke works best. With this technique you follow the natural turning of your wrists going backward and following through. This is similar to a stroke with any other club. There are also those who have very unique techniques such as the long putters, and the belly putters. These techniques tend to follow the ideology of the pendulum stroke. The idea is to take the wrists out of the equation by stabilizing either with the belly, or with a lever action long putter.

You can find people who will argue for each technique shown above. Personally I like to go straight back, and straight through. I find the simplicity very comforting. It can be argued that it is unnatural to go straight back and straight through. I recommend trying both techniques and see which is more comfortable for you.
